Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX531 is more than just a high-performance gaming laptop. Now, it's also a great laptop to carry around. The Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX531 is based on the groundbreakingly thin chassis that first appeared in the ROG Zephyrus S GX501. However, while the GX501 is a 17-inch gaming laptop, the ROG Zephyrus S GX531 is a 15.6-inch model with almost no bezels. The display is a 1080p panel, offering a refresh rate of 144Hz. Asus announced that it has worked with AU Optronics to reduce the response time to 3ms. It is a level that other products have not yet implemented in laptops. Like other 15-inch gaming laptops, the ROG Zephyrus S GX531 also sacrificed G-Sync for battery life. In addition, to save weight and size, Asu is equipped with a 50Wh battery. The capacity itself isn't terrible, but you can't ignore the fact that other competing products offer double the capacity. Other than that, there are no factors that sacrifice performance. In fact, the Zephyrus S is significantly faster than the other quad-core Zephyrus family because it uses the 8th-generation 6-core Core i7-8750H processor. This alone gives it an edge in multi-threaded tasks like 3D rendering or video encoding. For graphics, you can choose between the GeForce GTX 1060 and GeForce GTX 1070 Max Q. The RAM appears to be 8GB DDR4/2666 welded together. There is an additional SO-DIMM slot.

The keyboard comes forward, making room for the GPU and CPU.


Maintaining these high-performance components is the new thermal management system, which features a more integrated fan blade design, generous heat pipes, and a body that opens to help air in. Storage is a choice of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB SSDs, but there's only one M.2 slot inside.
