Expectations that the upgraded Nintendo Switch might be unveiled from the E3 event continued to rise. Nintendo announced Tuesday the Nintendo Switch OLED model with an OLED display and several improvements. As the name suggests, the so-called 'Super Nintendo Switch' with enhanced performance than the original is scheduled to be sold for $350 from October 8th.

OLED displays are more vivid in black or primary colors and have better color reproduction than general LED displays. The OLED switch model also increased the display size from 6.2 inches to 7 inches, and it is known that the sound reproduction ability has been strengthened.

The Nintendo Switch includes a dock that can be plugged in at home or outdoors, but the OLED version features an Ethernet terminal that supports wired connection at home. The standard internal storage is also doubled to 64GB compared to the original.

Original switch, not discontinued

Until now, expectations were high that it would support 4K gaming in dock mode, but according to Nintendo's official specifications, it is all about supporting a 1080p TV output. There are also rumors that the Nvidia chip inside has been refreshed, but the authenticity has yet to be confirmed as Nintendo hasn't detailed technical specifications for the OLED version.
